Popatbhai Jamod and his wife, Hansaben Jamod, from Savarkundla Municipality, have been approached by different parties for candidacy in the same ward, with Popatbhai initially chosen by the BJP and AAP, while Hansaben was selected by the Congress.
This unusual turn of events has garnered attention due to the rarity of family members, especially a married couple, being nominated by opposing political factions simultaneously. The sequence of events unfolded when Popatbhai, a grassroots worker with ties to the BJP, faced internal discord within the party over a ticket denial to one of his associates. Subsequently, he switched his allegiance to the Congress and supported Hansaben’s nomination, surprising the local political circles.
