Amid the 77th day of the ongoing anti-gangster crackdown in Punjab, the state’s police force carried out 501 raids at various locations associated with gangsters. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) revealed that 202 individuals were apprehended during the extensive operation, emphasizing the government’s relentless fight against organized crime.
The initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann earlier this year, aims to dismantle gangster networks and combat organized crime within the state. Police units from all districts, in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been executing synchronized raids and intelligence-driven missions across Punjab since the commencement of the drive.
On this particular day, authorities not only made arrests but also targeted proclaimed offenders and other suspects throughout the operation. Raids were conducted at multiple pre-identified locations based on mapping and intelligence inputs.
Simultaneously, the anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ progressed alongside the anti-gangster efforts. In a parallel operation, 112 alleged drug smugglers were apprehended, leading to the seizure of 5.8 kg of heroin, various intoxicant tablets and capsules, and cash suspected to be linked to drug-related activities.
Officials affirmed that these dual initiatives form part of a comprehensive strategy to combat organized crime, dismantle narcotics networks, and disrupt their financial and logistical support systems statewide. This recent enforcement action reflects Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to heighten vigilance through large-scale, coordinated operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks and upholding public order.
