SportsSenators Condemn False Rumors About Goaltender Ullmark

The Ottawa Senators have addressed false and fabricated stories circulating online regarding goaltender Linus Ullmark’s leave of absence, referring to them as the work of “trolls and sick individuals.” Ullmark, 32, has been on leave since late December for personal reasons, according to the team’s initial announcement on December 28. Despite the lack of specific details provided, the organization reiterated its full support for the Swedish goalie. In a rare move, the Senators issued a strongly worded statement denouncing the unfounded rumors on social media just before a game in Colorado. General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Steve Staios expressed disappointment over the baseless stories and emphasized the importance of respecting Ullmark’s privacy. The statement criticized those spreading false information as “the lowest forms of trolls and sick people.” The team emphasized its disgust at external attempts to disrupt their operations and declared the statement as an end to the unwarranted speculation online. Brady Tkachuk, the team captain, along with other players, publicly expressed support for Ullmark following the initial announcement. The Senators have not provided any indication of when Ullmark is expected to return to the team.
