The Rolling Stones have announced their upcoming album, “Foreign Tongues,” set to be released on July 10. Along with the album reveal, they dropped a new single called “In The Stars.” To mark the occasion, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood will be present at an event in Brooklyn later today.
Their previous album, “Hackney Diamonds,” was released in 2023, marking their return to original material after 18 years since “A Bigger Bang” in 2005. The album also holds sentimental value as it features posthumous appearances by drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021. The new album, “Foreign Tongues,” will include recordings from one of Watts’ final sessions, as well as collaborations with Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith from The Cure, and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mick Jagger shared his enthusiasm for the recording sessions at Metropolis in London, emphasizing the intense and passionate atmosphere during the creation of “Foreign Tongues.” The band once again worked with renowned producer Andrew Watt, known for his work with artists like Post Malone and Justin Bieber.
The anticipation for the new album was teased through cryptic posters under the name “The Cockroaches,” a familiar alias used by the band in the past. Fans decoded clues leading to the unveiling of the track “Rough and Twisted” under this moniker, hinting at the upcoming release. Subsequent billboards featuring the band’s emblematic logo and the phrase “Foreign Tongues” in different languages further built anticipation worldwide.
The band’s official website was updated with surveillance-style studio footage, followed by a slide puzzle revealing the cartoonish album cover featuring the band members’ faces. Additionally, a brief 10-second video clip hinted at a new song from the upcoming album, adding to the excitement surrounding the highly anticipated “Foreign Tongues” release.
