“TRACES Portal Upgrade Simplifies TDS Tasks”

Business"TRACES Portal Upgrade Simplifies TDS Tasks"

The Income Tax Department has introduced an upgraded version of its TRACES portal to simplify TDS-related tasks. This move aligns with the recent implementation of the new Income-Tax Act, 2025, signaling a shift towards a more efficient digital tax system.

The enhanced TRACES portal offers a modern layout focused on enhancing user experience and streamlining tax procedures. With improved navigation, streamlined workflows, and a structured interface, users can now easily manage TDS work without unnecessary complications.

One of the key features of the new portal is the centralized dashboard, providing users with access to Form 26AS, TDS certificates (such as Form 16, 16A, and 16B), TDS credit tracking, and online correction requests from a single location. This centralized approach aims to increase transparency and save time for users.

Additionally, the portal includes a compliance section to assist users in understanding new tax regulations and accessing records from previous financial years. Acting as a unified platform for both TDS and TCS services, the TRACES portal eliminates the need for users to navigate multiple systems.

Furthermore, the portal introduces new forms, Form 138 for salary-related TDS reporting, and Form 140 for non-salary payments. These forms are expected to enhance accuracy and expedite processing while maintaining the quarterly filing schedule. Property transactions will continue to require TDS deposits through Form 26QB on the Income Tax e-filing portal, with the new TRACES platform handling post-payment tasks efficiently.

The revamped TRACES portal reflects the government’s commitment to digitalization and simplified tax compliance. By reducing complexities and enhancing accessibility, the department aims to minimize errors and alleviate the burden of tax management for taxpayers. While the transition may require some adjustment, the updated portal promises a more seamless and user-friendly experience in the long term.
