President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Vice President JD Vance will spearhead an investigation into fraud in Democratic-controlled states in his new role as the “fraud czar.” Trump stated on Truth Social that Vance’s primary focus will be on these Blue States, specifically pointing out California, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine, and New York.
Trump mentioned that operations have already commenced in Los Angeles, where federal prosecutors disclosed on Thursday that eight individuals were charged in separate incidents for attempting to defraud the healthcare system of $50 million. These cases were pursued in collaboration with Vance’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, as highlighted by Vance in a social media post celebrating the swift action against fraud.
Last month, Trump signed an executive order establishing a national task force under Vance’s leadership to validate his assertions that funds allocated for social-welfare programs at the federal level are being misappropriated in certain states.
