Protests continued in Iran on Friday night, as shown in online videos, despite the government’s warning of a crackdown following the shutdown of the internet and communication lines. The ongoing protests, initially triggered by economic issues in late December, have evolved into a significant challenge to the regime.

State media labeled the demonstrators as “terrorists,” hinting at a potential violent response, similar to past crackdowns on nationwide protests. Despite President Trump’s promise to support peaceful protesters, Iranian authorities have threatened severe and uncompromising punishment for the dissenters.

International leaders, including the German Chancellor, British Prime Minister, and French President, condemned the reported violence against the protesters and called on Iran to allow freedom of expression without fear. Canada also strongly criticized the Iranian regime for its violent actions against its citizens.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi urged Western governments to denounce Iran’s oppressive regime, condemning its violent tactics against peaceful demonstrators. President Trump reiterated his pledge to take action against Iran if protesters are harmed, emphasizing a strong stance against the regime’s brutality.

The protests witnessed chanting against the government in various parts of Iran, despite efforts to suppress communication channels. Activists shared videos online depicting the unrest, with some calling for the return of the monarchy era. The demonstrations have resulted in casualties and numerous detentions according to human rights groups.

Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi’s calls for protests have fueled the dissent, with supporters expressing grievances over the country’s economic challenges. The protests have intensified despite the authorities’ attempts to quell the unrest, showcasing public discontent and a desire for change in Iran.
