An explosion at a building in Ludhiana district, Punjab, housing a matchbox manufacturing unit led to one fatality and left another person injured. The incident took place while two to three families were residing in the building. The blast occurred at approximately 8:20 pm, resulting in the death of Kaif Shah due to severe injuries. A 16-year-old girl sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade and ambulance teams swiftly responded to the scene. Fire officer Rajinder mentioned that various teams, including personnel from Mullanpur, were engaged in rescue operations. Local residents also actively participated in efforts to rescue individuals trapped under the debris.
The injured individuals were promptly transported to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for necessary medical care. Initial reports indicate that the explosion may have been caused by the manufacturing of firecrackers on the premises. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast.
