South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen has made the decision to retire from international cricket after being left out of Cricket South Africa’s central contract list. The 37-year-old, who last played in the Champions Trophy against New Zealand, expressed his gratitude on social media for the support he received throughout his career.

Van der Dussen debuted in 2018 at the age of 29 and had a successful international career lasting until 2025, playing across all formats. Known for his reliability in the middle order, he played 18 Tests, scoring 905 runs with six half-centuries. In ODIs, he excelled, appearing in 71 matches and amassing 2657 runs at an average of 50.13, including six centuries. He also had a notable T20I career, playing 57 matches and scoring 1406 runs at an average of 33.47.

With a total of 4,968 international runs, van der Dussen made significant contributions during a transitional period for South African cricket. Despite retiring from international cricket, he expressed his intention to stay involved in the sport through domestic cricket and mentoring, concluding his illustrious international career that spanned over seven years.
