The productions The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! both received 12 Tony Award nominations, leading the pack. June Squibb, aged 96, made history as the oldest Tony-nominated actor, while Danny Burstein became the most-nominated male actor in Tony Award history.

Following closely were Ragtime with 11 nominations, a revival celebrating early 20th-century America, and Death of a Salesman, a production starring Nathan Lane that garnered nine nominations. In total, 24 shows received at least one nomination across the 26 Tony categories, including adaptations like Cats: The Jellicle Ball and Chess.

The best new musical category will feature fierce competition from The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titanique, and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). Meanwhile, the best new play nominees include Giant, Liberation, The Balusters, and Little Bear Ridge Road.

June Squibb, nominated for Marjorie Prime, now holds the record for the oldest Tony-nominated actor, surpassing Lois Smith. Danny Burstein secured his place as the most-nominated male actor in Tony history with nine nods. Kelli O’Hara also received her ninth nomination for Fallen Angels.

The best play revival category boasts well-received works such as Every Brilliant Thing, Death of a Salesman, Oedipus, Becky Shaw, and Fallen Angels. John Lithgow, a two-time Tony winner, is vying for his third award against other leading actors in a play.

Actress Rose Byrne, known for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You and Fallen Angels, has the chance to become the 22nd actor in history to be Oscar- and Tony-nominated in the same year. Notable nominees in various categories include Joshua Henry, Brandon Uranowitz, Sam Tutty, and Nicholas Christopher.

The Tony Awards ceremony is set for June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Pink and airing live on CBS and Paramount+. Last year’s show, hosted by Cynthia Erivo, attracted 4.85 million viewers, marking the largest broadcast audience in six years.
