In Gujarat, a man was apprehended for allegedly murdering his second wife after a dispute regarding his first marriage and then discarding her body in nearby bushes, as per police reports on Saturday. The incident unfolded in Tankara town of Morbi district, where authorities were alerted about a homicide at a factory location. Upon arrival, law enforcement initiated an inquiry into the demise of Shakuben.
The accused, identified as Sanjay, reportedly engaged in frequent arguments with Shakuben concerning his first wife, Ganga, who had previously departed, leaving their children behind. The discord between the couple reached a peak on the night of the incident amid a disagreement about the first wife.
Allegedly blaming Shakuben for his first wife’s departure and the impact on their children, Sanjay purportedly struck her head with a heavy object in a fit of anger, resulting in fatal harm, as stated by the police.
Officials mentioned that post the murder, Sanjay used a rickshaw to move the body and discard it in an acacia bush near a dam, across from a temple. The crime was brought to light after the victim’s son reported the incident to the police. The son disclosed that his father had confessed to the crime and coerced him to assist in disposing of the body. Despite initially refusing, the son trailed his father and witnessed the body being abandoned.
Responding to the report, law enforcement retrieved the body and arranged for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has been lodged, and the suspect has been detained. Ongoing investigations are being conducted into the situation.
