Twenty passengers sustained severe injuries when a double-decker bus traveling from Noida to Bihar overturned on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district on Sunday evening, as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred close to milestone 76 in the Nauhjheel police station area around 7:36 pm when the bus, with registration number BR02PC2291, lost control and toppled over. It was estimated that the bus was carrying between 70 to 100 passengers at the time of the accident.
Upon receiving the report, police teams promptly arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation. They broke the bus windows to extricate trapped passengers and swiftly transferred all the injured individuals to the Community Health Centre in Nauhjheel using ambulances and government vehicles. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported in the incident.
Subsequently, authorities cleared the damaged bus from the expressway, allowing the resumption of traffic flow. Legal procedures regarding the case are currently in progress.
