The Prime Video series “Every Year After,” adapted from Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” has been greenlit for a second season. The show, featuring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, and produced by Carley Fortune, premiered earlier this year.
Following a storyline spanning six years and a pivotal weekend, “Every Summer After” narrates the tale of Percy and Sam, childhood friends torn apart by a tragic event, and their intricate love story upon reuniting years later.
The upcoming season of “Every Year After” will draw inspiration from “One Golden Summer,” the second book in Fortune’s series set in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. The new installment centers on Sam’s brother, Charlie, as he embarks on a romantic journey with Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood retreat until Charlie disrupts her plans with his charm and presence.
Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s head of global TV, lauded the overwhelming response to “Every Year After,” highlighting the widespread appeal of Carley Fortune’s storytelling and the strong bond audiences have forged with the Barry’s Bay universe.
Carley Fortune, a renowned author and journalist based in Toronto, has a rich portfolio that includes bestsellers like “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.” “Meet Me at the Lake” even made waves as a Canada Reads 2024 finalist, championed by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel featured on the program.
