ABC announced that the Emmy-award winner will have a significant guest role in “General Hospital” in a three-episode arc airing on July 2, 3, and 6.
Oliver’s journey to this role began earlier this year when he expressed his wish to be part of a soap opera, following ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith’s recurring appearances on “General Hospital.” During a March 8 episode of his show “Last Week Tonight,” Oliver made a passionate plea to soap operas to cast him, emphasizing his genuine love for the genre and offering to play a unique character with dramatic elements.
The response was swift, with “General Hospital” welcoming Oliver to Port Charles on their Instagram account shortly after his on-air request. Now, after several months, Oliver is set to make his debut on the show. While details of his character remain undisclosed, ABC teased fans with a first-look image showing Oliver in a navy blue suit alongside two men in tactical gear.
The show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, praised Oliver for his professionalism and contribution to the storyline, hinting at intriguing interactions in Port Charles. Oliver, in his statement, expressed his joy at being part of “General Hospital,” describing it as a fulfilling experience and an honor to be part of the show’s legacy.
