Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against an individual who attempted to enter her Los Angeles residence without invitation, causing what she described as deeply troubling incidents. Court documents reveal that Carpenter is pursuing a permanent restraining order against 31-year-old William Applegate.

In a sworn statement, Carpenter detailed how on May 23, Applegate trespassed onto a neighbor’s property to breach the security fencing surrounding her home, proceeding to approach her front door and forcibly attempt entry by grabbing the handle. Carpenter expressed deep concern over the deliberate and aggressive nature of Applegate’s actions, labeling it as a severe breach of personal safety and privacy.

Carpenter highlighted ongoing fear for her safety due to Applegate’s conduct, presenting Ring security camera footage capturing the man at her doorstep. She further alleged that Applegate refused to leave even after her private security intervened, fabricating false claims of acquaintance with Carpenter to support his intrusion.

Following Applegate’s arrest on the initial day of the incident, Carpenter reported that he returned less than 24 hours later, loitering outside her residence for an extended period. Subsequently, Applegate made a third consecutive appearance, parking near her gate until law enforcement intervened once more. Carpenter emphasized the emotional distress caused by Applegate’s persistent stalking, trespassing, and surveillance.

Security investigations revealed a pattern of concerning behavior by Applegate dating back to at least April 20, 2026, with Carpenter noting a worrying escalation over the following month. Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department described Applegate’s fixation on Carpenter as disturbing and irrational.

A judge has mandated that Applegate maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, as well as her sister and sister’s boyfriend. A follow-up court session is scheduled for June 17, with Applegate also facing criminal court proceedings on June 18 for the charge of criminal trespassing.
