India’s Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah have been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for their outstanding performances during India’s triumphant T20 World Cup run in March. South Africa’s rising star, Connor Esterhuizen, joins the Indian duo on the shortlist after impressing in his debut T20I series against New Zealand.
Samson shone brightly in March, playing crucial roles in India’s victories. His unbeaten 97 against the West Indies kickstarted India’s winning streak, followed by impressive knocks of 89 in the semi-final against England and the final against New Zealand. Samson’s aggressive batting style and consistency earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade.
On the other hand, Bumrah showcased his bowling prowess throughout the tournament, picking up crucial wickets at key moments. His standout performance in the final, where he took 4 wickets for 15 runs, sealed India’s victory and earned him the Player of the Match award.
Esterhuizen made his mark with a stellar batting display in New Zealand, scoring 200 runs in five matches with an impressive average of 50 and a strike rate of 145.98. His contributions helped South Africa secure a series win and propelled him into the top 40 of the ICC T20I batting rankings.
