“Vivo Adjusts Smartphone Prices Amid Memory Shortage”

Technology"Vivo Adjusts Smartphone Prices Amid Memory Shortage"

The ongoing memory shortage is significantly impacting the tech industry. With the surge in demand for RAM, particularly for AI data centers, smartphone manufacturers are facing challenges in acquiring memory components at reasonable prices. Vivo, a prominent smartphone brand in India, has recently adjusted the prices of selected smartphone models in response to the memory shortage issue.

Recent updates on the official Vivo India website reveal revised prices for various smartphones, including models from the V70 series, T5x, and Y series. The price adjustments, ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,000 per device, have been observed. Additionally, the pricing for iQOO smartphones, a sub-brand of Vivo, such as the iQOO 15R and iQOO Z11x, has also been updated in the Indian market.

Implications for the Vivo X300 Ultra

The anticipated launch of the Vivo X300 Ultra, the company’s flagship offering, suggests that the device may come with a premium price tag. Expected to feature top-tier specifications, including Zeiss-branded cameras and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the X300 Ultra is aimed at delivering a high-end user experience.

While the X300 Ultra is already available in China, where it starts at 6,999 Yuan (approximately Rs. 96,000), the Indian pricing is yet to be confirmed. However, considering the current market conditions regarding memory prices, it is anticipated that the Vivo flagship will likely be positioned in the premium segment, comparable to competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

Revised Pricing for Vivo and iQOO Devices

The Vivo V70 Elite and V70 models have witnessed price increments since their initial launch. For instance, the Vivo V70 Elite, originally priced at Rs 51,999 for the base model, is now listed at Rs 55,999. Similarly, the iQOO 15R variants have also seen price adjustments, with increases ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 depending on the configuration.

Here is a summary of the updated prices for select Vivo and iQOO smartphones:

Phone Variant Launch Price New Price
Vivo T5x 6GB/128GB Rs 18,999 Rs 22,999

These price adjustments reflect the challenges faced by smartphone manufacturers in navigating the current memory shortage crisis, ultimately impacting consumer pricing and market positioning.
