A 28-year-old food delivery rider tragically lost his life in Faridabad, Haryana, after a Mercedes car allegedly rear-ended his motorcycle, as per the police report on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Anand Raj Bind, passed away from his injuries while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Delhi following the late-night collision.
The incident took place around 2:00 am on the night of March 29 and 30 near the traffic signal in front of the Fire Brigade Office in Faridabad’s Sector 15, according to authorities.
Bind, who was employed as a delivery partner for Zomato, was riding his motorcycle when the high-speed luxury car hit him from the back.
The impact caused Bind and his bike to be thrown several meters into the air, resulting in severe injuries. Both his motorcycle and the car sustained significant damage, indicating a forceful collision.
Originally from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, Bind had been residing in rented accommodation in Faridabad for a considerable period.
His family members raised concerns about delays in receiving timely medical attention following the accident. Despite initially seeking treatment at a Delhi trauma center, he was reportedly turned away. Subsequently, he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where a malfunctioning CT scan machine further delayed his care. Ultimately, he was admitted to a private hospital where he later passed away.
The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle. The car, registered under a company’s name, has been confiscated, with authorities actively working to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.
Inspector Rajvir, the SHO of Central Police Station in Faridabad, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated the Mercedes was en route to the airport for a late-night pickup, reiterating that the driver remains at large but will be apprehended soon.
Following the accident, Bind’s brother arrived at the scene to find him unconscious on the road, with his damaged motorcycle nearby and the car parked some distance away. With the help of bystanders, Bind was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Delhi.
This tragic incident has once again underscored concerns regarding reckless driving and road safety in the area, prompting ongoing investigations by the police to locate the driver and ascertain the exact chain of events.
