Hundreds of individuals residing in Sushilpura, Jaipur, located just a short distance from the Chief Minister’s residence, have become unwell due to contaminated water from their taps over several days. The water, discolored in yellow and black hues and emitting a foul smell, has caused numerous locals to suffer from stomach issues, diarrhea, vomiting, and overall illness.
According to residents interviewed by India Today TV, the polluted water has been flowing from taps for around a week, leading to widespread sickness among both young and elderly residents in the area. Despite a visit by local BJP MLA Gopal Sharma, residents express dissatisfaction with the lack of action to address the water quality issues.
One resident mentioned, “My family and I have all fallen ill due to the contaminated water, so we have resorted to purchasing drinking water from outside.” Allegations have been made by locals that a sewage pipe breakage resulted in sewage mixing with the water supply to homes in the vicinity.
The situation has overwhelmed the local dispensary with numerous cases of illnesses attributed to the contaminated water. Despite ongoing complaints, the condition remains dire, leaving many residents of Sushilpura in Jaipur still suffering from the consequences of the polluted water.
A resident explained, “The contamination of water in Sushilpura has caused thousands to fall ill. The pollution occurred when the main road, which did not need repairs, was dug up, causing a sewage pipe to break and contaminate the water supply.”
