“Huawei Set to Launch Pura X Max Foldable Smartphone”

Technology"Huawei Set to Launch Pura X Max Foldable Smartphone"

Huawei is preparing to introduce a wide foldable smartphone in China called the Pura X Max, designed like a book and set to launch on April 20 alongside the Huawei Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro Max models. Leading up to the release, the company has started teasing the device online, showcasing its narrow foldable design with a horizontal rear camera setup resembling a pill shape.

With Apple’s foldable iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 generating excitement, Huawei’s early entry into the foldable smartphone market could provide it with a competitive advantage.

The Huawei Pura X Max boasts a design that combines elements of traditional flip-style and book-style foldables, offering an enhanced experience for landscape-oriented activities like video streaming, gaming, and multitasking. The smartphone features a triple rear camera system, a textured rear panel inspired by last year’s Pura X model, and punch-hole cameras on both screens. It is expected to have a flat frame and a minimal display crease, although more details will be disclosed at the launch event.

While full specifications are yet to be officially revealed, leaks suggest the Pura X Max may come with a 7.69-inch internal display featuring WQHD+ resolution and a 5.5-inch cover screen, powered by the Kirin 9030 chipset.

Huawei has already initiated pre-orders for the upcoming foldable device, which will be available in various configurations including 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB RAM with 512GB storage, a 16GB RAM/512GB Collector’s Edition, and a 16GB RAM/1TB Collector’s Edition. The smartphone is expected to be offered in blue, white, orange, and black color options, with pricing and global availability details pending confirmation.

For reference, the Huawei Pura X, launched in China in 2026, features a foldable LTPO2 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a secondary 3.5-inch cover screen, and is powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset. It offers up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage, a triple rear camera setup including a 50MP primary sensor, 8MP telephoto lens, and 40MP ultrawide camera, along with a 10.7MP front camera. The device is equipped with a 4,720mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 40W wireless charging, as well as reverse charging capabilities.
