“AI Giant Anthropic Files for U.S. IPO Race”

Business"AI Giant Anthropic Files for U.S. IPO Race"

American AI giant Anthropic has officially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in the U.S., positioning itself ahead of rival OpenAI in a highly anticipated race to go public. The company, known for the Claude chatbot, revealed on Monday that it had submitted a confidential filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a planned IPO of its common stock.

This move initiates a significant test of investor interest in AI, a sector that has seen soaring private valuations and discussions of potential trillion-dollar listings. Anthropic, headquartered in California, did not disclose the specifics of the offering, having previously raised $65 billion at a post-money valuation of $965 billion in late May, surpassing OpenAI.

The upcoming listing is anticipated to be one of the most impactful stock market debuts in recent years, potentially reshaping benchmark indexes, investor flows, and the overall narrative surrounding U.S. equities. Meanwhile, OpenAI is reportedly preparing to confidentially file for its own U.S. IPO in the near future.

Anthropic’s valuation has more than doubled since February 2026 when it secured $30 billion in funding, causing market fluctuations amid concerns about the disruptive potential of its AI tools. Noteworthy backers of the company include prominent names from Silicon Valley and Wall Street, such as Blackstone, Brookfield, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, General Catalyst, and Insight Partners.

As the IPO market gains momentum, with companies raising a substantial $87.5 billion through late May, Anthropic’s potential $1 trillion valuation could place it among the top echelon of the S&P 500, alongside leading global corporations. Additionally, other significant U.S. IPOs are expected to launch soon, including Quantum computing firm Quantinuum, Liftoff backed by Blackstone, and gas engine manufacturer Innio.
