“Kingsbury Opts Out of Dual Moguls Event After 100th Win”

Sports"Kingsbury Opts Out of Dual Moguls Event After 100th Win"

Mikaël Kingsbury, the freestyle skier, opted out of the dual moguls event on Saturday following his victory in the men’s moguls competition the day before, marking his 100th World Cup win. The event took place in Val Saint-Come, Que., which was Kingsbury’s first appearance in this season’s competition as he had sat out the season-opener due to a groin injury.

Despite his triumph on Friday, Kingsbury expressed uncertainty about competing back-to-back days. However, a spokesperson confirmed on Saturday that the Canadian athlete would not be participating in the dual moguls event. This decision aligns with Kingsbury’s strategy to ensure his return to competition is gradual and that he maintains his health leading up to the Olympic Games.

The upcoming Milan Cortina Winter Olympics are scheduled to commence on February 6, where dual moguls will be making its Olympic debut. Kingsbury has a remarkable track record in moguls skiing, having secured Olympic gold in 2018 and silver in 2014 and 2022. Additionally, he boasts nine gold medals from the world championship in both moguls and dual moguls disciplines.

In the men’s dual moguls event, alongside Kingsbury, nine other Canadian skiers competed, while nine Canadian women also participated in the dual moguls competition on Saturday.
