At least three tourists have tragically lost their lives following an accident where a tourist vehicle veered off the road near Sojha in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, as confirmed by authorities. Reports from Police Thana Banjar indicate that the vehicle was carrying a total of 20 tourists. The survivors have been successfully rescued and transported to a nearby hospital in Banjar, as per local officials. Deputy Commissioner Kullu Anurag Chandra has verified the fatalities.
In a separate incident back in January, a harrowing accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district resulted in the loss of 14 lives and left over 35 individuals injured. An overloaded private bus overturned and plunged into a deep gorge while en route from Solan to Haripur Dhar. The driver allegedly lost control on a challenging section of the road, causing the bus to overturn and fall into the gorge.
Authorities disclosed that the bus was carrying a far greater number of passengers than its designated seating capacity of 39 at the time of the crash. The bus plummeted around 500 feet into the gorge, sustaining significant damage. The impact of the collision led to immediate fatalities, with numerous passengers sustaining severe injuries. Swift response teams were dispatched to the scene to aid survivors and retrieve the deceased.
