“Pakistan Promotes Peace with Dove Release at PSL 2026”

Sports"Pakistan Promotes Peace with Dove Release at PSL 2026"

Pakistan demonstrated a commitment to peace by symbolically releasing a dove before the Pakistan Super League 2026 match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Peshawar Zalmi. The captains of both teams, Babar Azam and Marnus Labuschagne, participated in this gesture alongside PSL chairman Salman Naseer. The announcement was made by former Pakistan women’s cricketer Urooj Mumtaz, emphasizing Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace.

Pakistan played a crucial role in mediating the ceasefire between the US and Iran. Prior to the deadline set by US President Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face military strikes, Pakistan intervened to de-escalate tensions and advocated for diplomatic solutions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged Trump to extend the deadline and endorse a temporary ceasefire, which eventually led to a two-week ceasefire agreement just before the deadline expired.

In a thrilling match in Karachi, Zalmi emerged victorious over Kingsmen by four wickets. Iftikhar Ahmed’s exceptional all-round performance, taking 4 wickets for 21 runs and scoring crucial runs, played a significant role in Zalmi’s win. Despite a strong comeback by Kingsmen led by Kusal Perera, Zalmi sealed the victory with a composed innings from Iftikhar and Aamer Jamal, winning off the final ball.
